This is a Third Model closed top, six shot, single action made in the mid-1880's with matching assembly number 4871 on barrel, cylinder and cylinder axle. This revolver is a fully nickel plated with engraving in the Hopkins & Allen style with a combination of scroll, punch dot and crow's feet design with Mexican eagle and snake on left panel, and right panel with a small bird in circular panel. Has ivory grips with lanyard ring. Razor sharp legends. Right grip is slightly undersized. Left grip has a chip out of rear at base. Revolver features nearly full coverage engraving and retains approximately 95% nickel finish with some flaking on cylinder. Clean bore. Good suction. Indexes perfectly. Very handsome engraved big bore Western M&H revolver. Given the motif, probably shipped to some one along the Texas/Arizona/Mexico border.
