Round smooth bore steel barrel with replaced sights. Percussion lock with Maynard priming system. Stamped with eagle on door, dated "1858" and front tang stamped "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD." Standard steel furniture, brass nose cap, and plain walnut stock. Showing heavy use, brown patina on all steel components. Breech has been filed and blued, stock has scattered repairs and marks from use.
