This low serial number antique Smith & Wesson New Model no. 3 has survived in nearly unfired condition. Cylinders show signs of only partial test fire burn. Side plate fits perfectly. Sharp as new legends. Light drag line. Still retains 98-99% original factory nickel with some minor high edge wear and a couple of freckles here and there. The case colored trigger guard is a shiny gun metal gray. Nice case colors on hammer and near mint Smith & Wesson black composite grips. All matching numbers on frame, cylinder, barrel and fire blue latch. The no. 3 Smith & Wesson is considered the finest single action Western era large caliber hand gun ever manufactured. Popular with both the good and the bad. Known owners included Jesse James and Virgil Earp. Grips are near mint. Index locks up like a brand new gun should. Flawless. Sharp near mint bore, perfect action and tight lock up. Nearly impossible to improve on. This revolver deserves an original box and has to be one of the finest near mint un-fired no. 3 models in existence. It would be nearly impossible to find a better one.
