This trade musket dates to the first half of the 19th century. Three stage smoothbore steel barrel with sights on top. Rounded flintlock lock plate with stamped encircled fox in center. Brass furniture includes the classic serpent sideplate and sheet brass buttplate, iron triggerguard with over-sized bow and large trigger. Full length walnut stock of familiar early form with semi-relief carved panels around lock and sideplate. Replaced wooden ramrod. Barrel has a heavy brown patina with some scattered freckling and marks. Lock is in original flintlock configuration and retains a dark brown patina. Brass retains a mellow patina. Stock refinished and has a couple hairline age cracks and light scattered marks. This is a very desirable trade musket in exceptionally good condition.
