Megargee, a noted artist, was best known for his illustrations for ads he did for the Arizona Brewing Company prior to WWII. During the 1940's and 50's, Arizona Brewing Company's A-1 beer was the most popular brew in the Grand Canyon State. Megargee was also noted for his humorous Western paintings. His first exhibit was at the Dallas MFA in 1936. After his death, the Saturday Evening Post published a double page reproduction of Megargee’s most famous illustration “Cowboy’s Dream”. This is a very early example of Cowboys Dream where the only advertising is the "A1" branding iron laying next to the sleeping cowboy. The oversize print measures 33-1/2” wide and 20-3/4” tall and is framed to 37-3/4” x 25”. The frame appears to be original, issued with the poster from the A1 Brewing Company, featuring a real rope border.

Condition: (Excellent).

Item Dimensions: 37-3/4”W x 25”T.
