This spectacular piece of American history is an early 20th century wall telephone, manufactured by Western Electric with stamp at the center. This 323W model was produced in 1913. The crank generates power to the telephone and causes the bells to sound. The housing is tiger oak with a black Bakelite mouth and ear piece included. The embossed chrome around the mouth piece shows wear, with the mouth piece itself displaying chips along the edge. The shelf mounted at the base was designed to write messages while on the telephone.
