Manufactured 1981. The Model 26 is referred to as the Chief's Special. Is it built on the square butt J frame. This is a three screw with pinned barrel. The 36-1 was introduced in 1967. The J series introduced in 1969 and the pinned barrel was eliminated in 1982. Features five shot, double action, blue finish and case colored hammer and trigger. The silver medallion diamond checkered grips are from another gun. Aside from light drag line the gun retains 97% finish with a couple of age spots on the right side of frame. Fine bore and action. Comes in a blue box not numbered to gun. The 3" square butt is far scarcer than the 2".
