Manufactured in 1913. Offered is a very early second year production U.S. Army Colt that has the original barrel, stamped "P H" (visible through port), sans serif. Serial No. range 25001-110000. Has all other early features as well, including the low rounded first type rear sight, low rounded half moon type front sight. Has original Type I checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, flat main spring housing, with rear pony. Left side of frame has the early "W.G.P." inspector mark (Walter G. Penfield 1911-1914). Stamped "UNITED STATES PROPRTY" with the patent date 1911 (first type slide). Right side of frame is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Has flat main spring housing with lanyard. The blue is very rich on the hammer, slide stop, safeties, and grip safety. May have been replaced with proper parts. Front and Type III temper line lanyard loop magazine. Also has a fine pair of diamond checkered walnut grips in excellent condition. Fine bore and action. Very presentable and homogeneous U.S. Military second year Colt.
