This very decorative and elaborate rifle features an octagonal barrel and unmarked lock. Engraved brass furniture includes a four-piece patchbox with an engraved Native American on the finial. Much of the engraving has most likely been embellished or enhanced. Full-length maple stock has extensive and unusual relief and incised carved designs, and an applied turkey in flight on the left side behind the cheekpiece. The rifle also has several silver and German silver inlays. Lock and barrel have a brown patina with scattered areas of freckling and marks from use and some corrosion at breech. Brass and silver retain a mellow patina and stock has scattered areas of restoration and marks from use. An interesting and unusual Kentucky rifle that has a very decorative appearance.
