This shotgun began life as a Belgium import side by side hammer shotgun called the Excelsior. It was obtained from the famed Stembridge Studios of Hollywood where the barrels were shortened, reserial numbered (Stembridge Studio Serial No. 149263). Bottom of frame has the large stamped "S" for Stembridge Studio. Left side of stock stamped "126". Right side of stock stamped "W.F. & CO. 126". Features double hammers, double triggers and Damascus barrels. Barrels and forend are stamped with Stembridge matching number. All metal is brown patina. Stocks are very good. No visible cracks or repairs. Has a Smith & Wesson plastic buttplate that was replaced at one time. Lock-up is tight and fully functional. Comes with a notarized letter from the television Western star Dale Robertson, who starred in the television Western hit "Tales of Wells Fargo" (1957-1962), as well as an autographed photo of Dale Robertson holding the same or similar shotgun. It is a wonderful piece of Western TV memorabilia for the fan of the old 1950's television Westerns.
