Approximately 1,000 rifles manufactured for the U.S. Government. Marked 1865 on frame. Features full round barrel, two barrel bands, cleaning rod, 3/4 length walnut forend, walnut buttstock, buttplate with loading tube, stabler cut-off, lever action and military sights. All metal is a smooth brown-grey patina. Barrel bands stamped "U". No visible cartouche in wood. Stock has a couple of drying stress cracks on left and right sides, otherwise very good. Fine action. Strong, rifled bore. Comes with an original bayonet and period sling.
