Probably circa 1860 and made around St. Louis, Missouri. Heavy rifled octagonal steel barrel with browned finish. Flat stamp-engraved percussion lockplate marked "R.B." in a banner. Plain brass furniture, pewter nose-cap and German silver barrel key escutcheons. Partially figured walnut half-stock with brass-tipped wooden ramrod. Very good condition, overall. Barrel retains much brown finish with one empty front sight dovetail behind front sight and some scattered light marks. Lock retains a light grey surface with some freckling. Brass furniture retains a mellow patina and stock is excellent with a few scattered marks from use and one minor chip around barrel tang. A very nice western half-stock rifle.
