Round smoothbore steel barrel, marked on left side of breech with French proofs and "M1777" on tang. Barrel shortened slightly during period of use, lug mounted on bottom. Flat lockplate with rounded tail section, brass pan, and rounded reinforced cock. Center stamped "Mre. ROYALE/DE VERSAILLES" in center. Standard steel Model 1777 furniture, most components with inspector marks. Walnut full length stock with inletted cheekpiece on left side of comb and large "11" rack number deeply branded into left side of butt. Complete with triangular steel socket bayonet with French markings at top of blade. All steel components retain a spotted brown patina, some corrosion at breech. Lock is in original flintlock configuration and markings are excellent. Stock has been refinished and has some scattered marks from use and edge wear, ramrod is absent. Bayonet retains a grey patina with some scattered freckling and marks. A very nice and original example made at the Versailles factory. These muskets are quite scarce.
