Tapered, round smoothbore steel barrel with top flat fitted with diminutive sights. Flat lcokplate signed "J / Smith" in script in the center. Plain brass trigger guard, buttplate and ramrod ferrules. Copper sideplate with a few engraved moldings. Full length plain maple stock of New England form with brass band at tip towards muzzle. Barrel and lock retain a brown patina, some corrosion at breech. Lock appears to be in original flintlock configuration. Brass and copper retain a mellow patina. Stock has been refinished and has some chipping above back of lock tang, and some cracks towards toe of buttstock. This fowler has a great look and displays typical New England form.
