There were 19,374 pistols of this model manufactured by Simeon North between 1817 and 1820. Round smoothbore steel barrel stamped "P / US" on left side of breech. Flat beveled lockplate with rounded tail section, brass pan, and reinforced cock, center of lockplate stamped with early type markings "S. NORTH / U. / eagle / S. / MIDDLN. CON." Standard Model 1816 steel furniture, sideplate and barrel band. Walnut stock with traces of inspector's stamps behind sideplate, ramrod is absent. Fair condition, all steel components retain a spotted brown patina and have been partially cleaned, markings are clear, some minor freckling and scattered marks from use. Lock is in original flintlock configuration. Stock has a few scattered marks and some minor cracks and chipping around top of lockplate.
