Manufactured 1887. This rare musket is part of a group of an entire collection of Winchester muskets dating from 1866 to 1895 that took the consigner nearly 50 years to complete. First Model muskets are rare; before serial number 90,000 only 1 in 230 Model 1885's were produced as muskets, after this number, most muskets were in .22 caliber. Features military ladder rear sight, post front sight, two bands, cleaning rod, sling swivels, full length walnut forend and walnut buttstock with carbine buttplate. No trapdoor in butt. Metal retains 95% of a dull blue finish with some minor touch-up. Wood is excellent. Strong, clean bore. Comes with a socket saber bayonet with leather sheath and stamped "B".
