Serial number applied November 10th, 1897. This rare musket is part of a group of an entire collection of Winchester muskets dating from 1866 to 1895 that took the consigner nearly 50 years to complete. Features round barrel with post front sight and military rear sight, three barrel bands, full length wooden forend, carbine butt with trapdoor and two sling swivels. Left side of the frame and barrel have first and second English proof marks and two line barrel address. Standard blued finish. Right side of the stock is stamped "P.S. LA PAZ N3392". As with most existing 1892 muskets, it is believed the bulk were for foreign orders, in this case the rifle made its way through England to La Paz, Bolivia. All metal is a pleasing blue-grey soft homogeneous patina with no pitting. 80% blue on loading gate. Walnut stocks are excellent. Strong, clean, near mint bore. While the 1892 is not the rarest musket, all muskets with the exception of 1866, 1873 and 1895 are scarce to impossible and rarely seen for sale, making it very difficult to estimate value as very few can be found having been sold, especially in such fine original, untouched condition as most collectors know Winchester rifles bound for foreign lands seldom surface in any condition at all.
