Browned octagonal steel barrel, rear sight absent, stamped on top flat "J.H. JOHNSTON / GREAT WESTERN / GUN WORKS PITTSBURGH, PA". Flat percussion lockplate with stamp-engraved scrolls and marked "J. GOLCHER" in a banner in center. Double set triggers and plain brass furniture. Figured maple half-stock and wooden ramrod. Very good condition overall. Barrel retains much of brown finish with some corrosion at breech. Lock excellent with a grey even patina. Brass retains a mellow unpolished patina. Stock very good with only a few minor marks. This is a very nice western Pennsylvania half stock!
