This rifle was shipped on September 12th, 1878 with standard half octagon 28" barrel (letter states 26" - error), set trigger, checkered stock (no pistol grip) and case hardened. You will not find caliber markings on this rifle as it was only available in the .45-75 caliber at the time. It is an early open top model that was never made for a dust cover. Features the rare straight grip deluxe wood checkered walnut stocks, very rare blued half octagon barrel, full magazine, standard sporting front sight, 1876 ladder rear sight; case colored frame, hammer, lever, forend cap and buttplate. Barrel and tube retain at least 99% rust blue with razor sharp legends. Nearly complete coverage case hardening that includes buttplate. 100% brilliant Nitre blue on loading gate. Near mint checkered walnut stocks that have been freshened up to as new with razor sharp checkering. All screw heads are near mint. Fine action with a strong, clean rifled bore. Simply a stunning early open top deluxe Model 1876 with rare half octagon barrel and straight grip.
