Manufactured 1869. Offered is the nicest Henry marked Model 1866 standard rifle that we have cataloged. The barrel and tube retain approximately 90% original factory blue finish that is mixing with a soft patina coming through the finish with a completely clean and homogeneous appearance. The octagon barrel has the Henry's Patent stamp. Has the standard ladder rear sight and small blade front sight. Walnut stocks are equipped with sling swivels. Brass frame, buttplate and nose cap have never been touched and even has some of the vertigre around screws. The majority of the screws have generous amounts of the original fire blue finish. Loading gate has 75% blue. Colors on hammer and lever have darkened. Walnut stocks are excellent with some usual bumps and bruises with lovely finish, no cracks or dryness of any kind. Action is like new. Strong, clean mirror bore. Simply put, an 1866 octagon rifle that would surely place in the top 5% of all existing specimens.
