Factory letter states Serial No. 107795 was shipped July 16th, 1896 as an octagon barrel, .45-90 takedown rifle with plain trigger. This early rifle remains in almost near new, 98% overall, original, untouched condition. Features full octagon barrel, full magazine, takedown, Winchester sporting front and rear sight, walnut stocks with rifle butt, and Winchester sling eyes not mentioned in letter. There is a hint of wear at muzzle, some slight wear at takedown lever, and slight wear on edges of barrel band. Slight evidence of turning on takedown tube but still blue which indicates rifle was taken apart maybe once or twice. Nose cap retains 99% blue. Frame retains 97% brilliant factory blue with just light high edge wear and a couple of minor storage marks on left side. Lever and hammer exhibit brilliant case colors. Walnut stocks are near mint and proud to metal. Buttplate colors have patterned out. Left side of frame is beautifully engraved "G.L. ESSIG". Mirror bore and fine action. It would be nearly impossible to uncover a finer near mint example of a .45-90 takedown as this rifle appears to be almost unused.
