According to the factory letter, this carbine was shipped as a .45-90 and received in warehouse October 18th, 1894. Standard features include full round barrel, full magazine, twin bands, post front sight, folding ladder rear sight, case colored frame, hammer and lever; blued saddle ring, stud and carbine buttplate; and walnut stocks. Barrel and tube retains virtually all of the rust blue finish with razor sharp markings. Barrel bands are thinning. Bolt has 100% blue with Nitre extractor. Brilliant 100% case colors on frame, hammer and lever with some light age freckling. Walnut stocks are near mint. 98% blue on buttplate. Fine action. Strong, rifled bore. A fine, case colored Model 1886 Saddle Ring Carbine in .45-90 is one of the most desirable of all Carbines. It is amazing to witness the workmanship of Turnbull restorations when reviving an old, rare firearm to the point that it is nearly identical in fit and finish to a $50,000 original. Besides being in near new condition this should make a great shooter at a price a working man may be able to afford.
