Manufactured 1938. One of the hardest to find of all pre-World War II Colt 1911 Army pistols. Left side of frame has the large "P" with small "h" next to magazine release. All pre-war checkered small parts including short wide spur hammer. Features military blue finish, checkered walnut grips, arched mainspring housing and lanyard. Slide is No. 713392, 26 numbers off from the pistol. A large majority of these were sent to ships and given the proximity of the numbers, it was probably wrongly installed by a ships armorer as the finish matches, showing approximately 50% original military blue finish. Left side of frame has the patent dates. Top of frame has the large "P". U.S. Army marks on right side of frame. Blue barrel with polished chamber, letter "G" and stamped "COLT .45 AUTO" on left side. Strong bore. Pinned magazine. Excellent fully checkered walnut grips that show some rounding at base. Overall pistol has homogenous blue-grey appearance.
