High quality fowler, possibly made for Italian nobility. Superposed round Damascus smoothbore steel barrels both with Italian proof marks on left sides, near patent breeches. Separated by solid rib and fitted with a steel ramrod on the right side and sling swivels on bottom. Double back-action percussion locks, plates and hammers decorated with deeply chiseled designs. Double triggers and steel furniture heavily decorated with chiseled scrolls and foliate patterns. Plain walnut half-stock with checkering around wrist. All steel components retain a bright surface and have some freckling, as they were chemically cleaned. Stock has been sanded and refinished, checkering shows wear and stock has some scattered marks from use and a small professional repair to front of forend on right side. This is a very attractive and highly decorative European over and under shotgun.
