These revolvers were made from 1896 - 1903. This revolver is an extremely rare version with a 6" barrel. It is built on the I-frame and was Smith & Wesson's first swing out cylinder. The patent dates are stamped on the cylinder between the flutes beginning with "APRIL 9, 89" and ending with "JULY 16, 95". There are no barrel markings. Has matching serial number on barrel and back of cylinder. Gun has a strong rifled bore and fine action. Case colored hammer and trigger, and S&W logo black composite grips which are not numbered. All legends are strong. Retains approximately 70% of the original blue, balance patina. First of this model we have encountered.
