After William Gent Mfg. produced the first Grandmother Predictions in the late 1920s, International Mutoscope Reel Co. quickly followed suit with the release of their own version in the early 1930s. This fortune teller features a tiger oak cabinet with repainted front castings and decorative cast claw feet. With the 1st wave grandmother figure which, admittedly, isn't as visually appealing as the subsequent figures made for this machine. This device lights up and operates well. The grandmother figure nods her head up and down as well as side to side as her body "breathes" and her hands move over the cards laid out in front of her. Wear is present throughout, with the cabinet having taken on a nice patina over the years. Without keys. Extremely original and rare.
Condition: (Very Good).
Item Dimensions: 25"D x 29"W x 85"T.
