Measures 5-13/16 overall, the exact same overall size of Booth's "Lincoln" Deringer, used to assassinate the President. For photos of a nearly identical pistol, used to kill Abraham Lincoln, see pages 36-37 in Volume I of "The Deringer in America: The Percussion Period" by R.L. Wilson and L.D. Eberhart. Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth, using a pistol of this size and make, on April 14, 1865 while at Ford's Theater. Pistol features a rounded rifled steel barrel with top flat, patent breech inlaid with two German silver bands and marked "DERINGER/PHILADELA" and stamped with a "P". Diminutive sights. Back action percussion lock engraved with scrolls and stamped "DERINGER/PHILADELA". Walnut stock of familiar form with engraved German silver furniture and checkered panels around grip. Good condition, barrel and lock have been reblued. Stock has crack around wrist a an few minor cracks and marks from use, checkering shows some wear. Mounts are excellent and retain a mellow patina.
