This is a well-made percussion single shot in the style of Deringer, although it is completely unmarked and the maker is not known. Copying the popular Deringer pistol was a lucrative undertaking in the first half of the 19th century. This example features a round rifled steel barrel with top flat and patent breech. Back action percussion lock with scroll engraving and fancy pierced and engraved hammer. Nearly full length walnut stock of familiar Deringer form, with pewter end cap and replaced steel ramrod. Engraved German silver furniture with florals on triggerguard bow and butt cap. Very good condition, overall, with steel components retaining an even light grey patina, barrel tang is cracked through at tang screw, bore shows some wear. Stock very good with some light wear and scattered marks. A very interesting and possibly unique Deringer style pistol.
