Slightly curved, single fullered steel blade, right side of ricasso with brass inlaid circle stamped "PROOVED". Pierced brass guard featuring and engraved American eagle below an "E PLURIBUS UNUM" banner and standing on top of a large "US". Three branch knuckle bow and chagrin grip with braided brass wire wrap. Complete with steel scabbard with brass mounts. Very good condition; blade retains a light grey patina and shows some edge wear, mounts retains a mellow, unpolished patina and scabbard retains a light grey patina. A very nice sword imported for use during the Civil War.
