Factory letter states that this .45-90 rifle was shipped on June 1st, 1896 with full octagon barrel, plain trigger, checkered stock with pistol grip, shotgun butt with rubber buttplate, takedown. Other features include standard sporting front and rear sights, blued finish, case colored lever and hammer, tang sight, triple X wood, extra finish. Remains in superb, all original, as shipped condition. Retains 85-90% original blue on barrel and tube, barrel starting to bleed through with soft patina. Usual takedown marks on tube. 90% original blue on forend cap. 75% original blue on takedown ring. 90% original high polish blue on both sides of frame. Thinning on base of frame. 90% blue on bolt. Wood is excellent, checkering sharp, with fantastic grain. Winchester buttplate is fine. Generous case colors on hammer and lever. An extremely handsome, fine condition deluxe in very desirable .45-90 caliber.
