Comprising: A) Probably French. Slightly curved unmarked steel blade with double fullers. Cast brass hilt with unusual guard and wreaths on pommel. Fluted horn grip. Complete with original black leather scabbard with brass mounts. Blade has been sharpened on a wheel and has an otherwise spotted grey patina. Hilt retains a mellow patina with scattered marks from use. Grip has a couple minor chips and a cracks and scabbard is very good with a crazed surface and a few minor scuffs. B) Spanish Cutacha Sword. Made in Germany in Solingen for Cuban and Spanish officers. Ricasso of straight steel blade stamped “MACERO/SOLINGEN/GARANTIZADO" and "No. 87”. Nickel plated cast brass "s"-guard and eagle's head pommel. Black checkered ebony grip, and brown leather scabbard with nickel mounts and embossed designs. Blade polished bright with some grey spotting and sharpening marks. Hilt retains most of nickel finish with some higher areas worn, exposing brass. Scabbard slightly loose and has some scuffs and light marks from use. Interesting piece of Spanish-American history.
