This very nice rifle features unmarked octagonal steel superposed barrels, both with front and rear sights, one smoothbore and one with hexagonal rifling. Each barrel has a bolster with nipple and ramrods are fitted on both sides, between barrels. Swivel mechanism operates by pulling a lever forward the triggerguard. Back action percussion lock with scroll engraving, otherwise unmarked. German silver sideplate opposite lock stamped "I.L. BECK". Figured maple buttstock with brass four-piece patchbox on right side and a silver tulip inlaid on the wrist, the left side features three silver tulips, a silver oval escutcheon inscribed "JD", an inlaid silver U.S. half dime, and a silver strip engraved and inlaid into cheeckpiece. German silver oval inlaid above cheekpiece. Barrels retain a dark brown patina and swivel mechanism functions well. One ferrule on each side has been reattached and ramrods probably replaced. Some minor corrosion at breeches. Lock retains a matching brown patina, hammer does not stay in cocked position, nipples replaced. Stock retains much original finish and patina, toe was replaced during period of use. Brass and silver retain an original unpolished patina. This is a very nice Pennsylvania made swivel breech combination rifle in very nice original condition.
