Just prior to the start of the Appomattox Campaign the Army of the Potomac has 1,297 Burnside carbines in use in its three Cavalry divisions. The 20th Pennsylvania Cavalry was completely armed with Burnsides that participated in the last attack on the Confederate breastworks. This model features a lever action, drop bolt, breechloading percussion carbine with round barrel, single band, two leaf folding sight, saddle ring and bar, rear sling swivel, carbine butt and walnut stocks. All metal sports a soft patina finish with sharp markings. Left side of stock is carved "AA". Matching numbers. Wood is very good to excellent, showing use but no major issues. Fine action. Strong rifled bore.
