Offered is a scarce first year full production Model 71 deluxe short barrel carbine/short rifle. Has the special short 2 - 1/4" ramp, flat crown, filled rear sight, bolt peep sight, half magazine, blued finish and deluxe checkered pistol grip walnut stock with steel buttplate. Barrel and tube retain approximately 97% original factory blue. Magazine cap is grey. Forend cap has flashes of blue. Left side of frame retains 98% factory blue. Base is grey. Top of frame and bolt retain 98% blue. Right side of frame retains 30% blue, balance patina from carry. Wood is excellent to near mint, proud to metal with sharp checkering and has an inset 1/2" compass on comb. Fine bore and action.
