Block is stamped "MODEL 1884". Sideplate is stamped "(eagle) U.S. SPRINGFIELD.". Has an 1884 rear sight, rod bayonet, twin barrel bands, checkered trigger, buttplate with trapdoor. Walnut stock has a "S.W.P. 1890" cartouche (Sam Porter). Fire blue on retainer springs. Colors have turned brown patina. Barrel is a smooth blue-brown patina mix with some age freckling. "VP" proof on barrel. Stock is excellent to near mint with beautiful finish and proof "P" in circle. Fine action. Strong, clean, near mint bore. A very clean 1884 Trapdoor.
