Manufactured 1886. This is an early and scarce Open Top that features the half round barrel, half magazine, checkered pistol grip stock and checkered forend. Stock has chip at toe. Wood is good; checkering thinning and forearm has chips. All metal is a pleasing mix of blue-grey-brown soft patina. Soft light chipping on forend and checkering worn. Missing the safety. Strong rifled bore and fine action. Very handsome and seldom seen deluxe Colt Lightning rifle. Great restoration project.
