Factory letter states this revolver was shipped on March 14th, 1901 to Simmons Hardware in St. Louis as a 4 - 3/4" .41 caliber with blued finish. It also includes a letter from famed master engraver David Wade Harris of Jacksonville, Texas where he lists this gun by serial number as performing the factory-type scroll engraving with full coverage and nickel finish. Revolver has all matching numbers and appears now just as in the Harris letter. The scroll engraving is typical 19th century style and beautifully executed. Revolver retains nearly all of the reapplied nickel finish. Sports a pair of pearl grips that are a bit shy and loose, and could use a new grip screw. Indexes and locks up like new. Strong bore. With some attention to the fitting of the pearl grips, this is an absolutely fantastic looking engraved Colt in the scarce .41 caliber.
