Signed Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania rifle. Massive rifled octagonal steel barrel signed “J.F.G.” in script for Jacob F. Gehrett of Orbisonia, PA. Rifle exhibits typical Huntingdon “spear point” patch box with heart piercing and stepped engraved side plates. Black piano finished curly maple stock with no visible repairs. Possible finish applied to barrel and stock. Features 16 silver inlays with several replaced and several possibly added. Silver saddle wear plate on forearm. Lock is original percussion with double set trigger, which is also “lathe turned” in Huntingdon style, some corrosion and dark patina. Original ramrod and a nice bore. Tang sight and one screw are absent, stock has some scattered marks from use.
