Early 20th century Model 1850 Naval Officer's sword. Straight etched blade with "U.S.N." with a fouled anchor on one side and a shield and fouled anchor on the other, ricasso marked with a star on one side and "MADE BY/MCLILLEY/&CO/COLUMBUS/OHIO" on the other. Gilt brass standard 1850 hilt, pierced and with "U.S.N." on front of guard, shagrin grip wrapped with braided brass wire. Complete with black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts and period gilt sword knot. Blade excellent with all of original polish and scattered light freckles to surface overall, mounts retain about 90-95% gilt finish with some wear light scattered marks. Leather has been re-covered.
