Round steel barrel with flat brass rib on top, engraved with acanthus leaves, foliage and florals with integral brass half moon sight. Flat banana flintlock engraved with grotesque face at tail and detailed borders; unbridled pan. Relief cast brass furniture including ramrod entry ferrule decorated with grotesque mask, trigger guard with acanthus leaf finial and portrait on bow and stirrupped butt cap with scrolls and portraits on each side of grip. Pierced sideplate featuring a serpent and several faces. Wrist escutcheon with a portrait in relief. Curled steel trigger. Figured stock with relief panels around lock and sideplate, ramrod channel and trigger guard. Acanthus leaf carved in relief behind barrel tang. Good condition. Barrel retains a light brown patina with light pitting and brass rib showing some wear to engraving. Lock retains a grey patina and is in original flintlock configuration, top jaw and screw replaced. Brass mounts show scattered marks from use and some wear, one butt cap stirrup missing a portion, the other has been repaired. Pin in rear of pierced sideplate. Stock has a forend repair and scattered minor wood repairs and replaced slivers. Some scattered marks and wear to carving. Overall, a nice early 18th century pistol.
