Frame dates to 1913 and matches barrel date. Left side of stock has the "J.F.C." cartouche in box for James F. Coyle, who, serving as inspector ran from 1907 to 1918. This gun is correct in every respect. Trigger guard has the "NRA" with Ordnance bomb stamp. Walnut stock has the wide finger groove with single bolt. Sports the high hump early walnut hand guard. All milled parts. Serif "P" in circle on wrist. Early sight with dish knobs but no platinum line. Straight bolt. Original blue finish of which 80% remains on frame. Barrel is a brown patina and has some light corrosion on front sight and muzzle. Stock is excellent with a few dings. Great wood and finish. No cracks or chips, but some sling damage at base where is wears an early "ORUC" no buckle canvas sling, Patented 1914. ME reading: 1. Fine clean bore. These rifles were made availablet o the NRA prior to World War I and are a high sought variation of the U.S. Model 1903. This is a fine example.
