Block is stamped "MODEL 1884". Sideplate is stamped "(eagle) U.S. SPRINGFIELD.". Has an 1884 rear sight, twin barrel bands, cleaning rod, checkered trigger. Walnut stock has a "S.W.P. 1889" cartouche (Sam Porter). Fire blue on retainer springs. Fine blue on barrel bands. Colors have faded. Barrel has 90% blue. "VP" proof on barrel. Stock is excellent to near mint with beautiful finish and small chip at top sideplate. Fine action. Strong, clean, near mint bore. A very clean 1884 Trapdoor.
