Block is stamped "MODEL 1884". Sideplate is stamped "(eagle) U.S. SPRINGFIELD.". Has an 1884 rear sight, rod bayonet, twin barrel bands, checkered trigger, buttplate with trapdoor. Walnut stock has a "S.W.P. 1891" cartouche (Sam Porter). Fire blue on retainer springs. Colors have turned grey. Barrel is a clean, grey patina. "VP" proof on barrel. Stock is excellent to near mint with beautiful finish. Fine action. Strong, clean, near mint bore. Comes with reproduction sling. A very clean 1884 Trapdoor.
