This rifle started off life as a standard Model 1861 British Enfield rifle that was converted to fire the .577 cartridge by use of the Snyder conversion. Features three barrel bands, brass forend tip, military sights, full length walnut stock, brass trigger guard, two sling swivel and brass buttplate. As usual, it is loaded with British proof marks on just about every piece of metal. Lock is dated 1861. Cleaning rod has been replaced. Barrel is a mix of brown patina with blue and some scattered roughness. Stock is very good to excellent with usual dings but no cracks. Right side of stock is stamped with the Enfield cartouche. Strong, visible rifling with usual black powder abrasion. Good working order.
