Manufactured under Colt contract at Springfield Armory in 1914. It is simply a Colt Model 1911 U.S. Army made at the Springfield Armory. Left side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" with Springfield flaming bomb. Right side of frame has serial number. Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" with Springfield eagle. Left side of slide is stamped "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY U.S.A.". Left side rear of slide has Springfield flaming bomb. Left side of slide is stamped "PATENTED APR. 20, 1897 / SEPT. 9, 1902. DEC. 19, 1905. FEB. 14, 1911 / COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.". Barrel is a World War II Hi-Standard replacement with blued finish, and stamped "HS" on right lug and "P" on left. Has a two tone Springfield magazine with folded over flanges discussed on page 213; Springfield Armory hammer Type I wide spur and checkered; Springfield Armory diamond checkered walnut stock with truncated diamond patter with 15 diamonds per inch, pictured on page 140, diagram two in the book "The Model 1911" by Joe Poyer. All metal retains 95% of the arsenal applied blue finish blending nicely with soft brown patina for a beautiful homogeneous look throughout. Excellent condition, extremely desirable pre-World War I.
