London 1930, maker's mark "C.E.", with a short triangular blade and square sectioned ebony handle held by straps and pierced initials alternating with a compass and straight edge, the top with an ivory ball, given as a duplicate of the trowel used for the extension of the Polytechnic in Great Portland Street by Lord Ampthill in 1928.
