Manufactured 1944. A total of 60,000 Ithacas were manufactured under Colt patent for the U.S. Government. Left side of frame has the "FJA" inspector stamp for Frank J. Atwood, proof "P" and "J" on trigger bow. Right side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY M 1911 A1 US ARMY" and a "2" on trigger bow. Rear right of frame stamped with Ordnance circle with raw steel showing (original finish). All serrated small parts to include slide stop, safety, short spurless hammer and arched mainspring housing. Keyes stamped brown plastic grips. Left side of slide is stamped "ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA NY". Top of slide is stamped with sans serif "P". Blued barrel is a properly stamped "H S" High Standard on right lug and "P" on left lug. Has a five view hole, pinned base, blued magazine stamped "S" for Scovill. Gun is in near new condition inside and out, retaining 97% original arsenal applied finish. Sharp legends and edges. Fine bore and action.
