Manufactured 1917. This is a very high condition 1917 era standard Model 1911 military pistol. Left side of frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and has the inspector stamp "GHS" in circle for Major Gilbert H. Stewart. Right side of frame has serial number. Left side of slide has the "AUGUST 19TH 1913" last patent date with two line and pony at rear. Right side of slide is stamped "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". Features all early correct parts including long smooth trigger, Type I checkered slide stop and safety, checkered wide spur hammer; and five view hole, two tone magazine with pinned bottom and lanyard. Correct era blued barrel stamped with perpendicular sans serif "P / H". Features diamond checkered walnut grips and flat mainspring housing with loop. This pistol has seen very little use. The flat mainspring housing is brown patina, otherwise pistol retains approximately 95% original blue with just high edge wear and some patina showing through on left side. Comes with a Rock Island Arsenal holster, a 1918 dated web belt and a gathered base canvas 1907 patent Mills double magazine pouch with two blued tempered original magazines. One of the better condition 1917's you will find. Given the prime war years of potential of use, this example is exceptional.
