Manufactured 1914. Offered is an early four-digit Commercial Model with the early Colt factory high polish blue frame. Right side of frame is stamped "GOVERNMENT MODEL" and "C 5680". "VP" verified proof and "2" stamped on left trigger guard. "2" stamped on top of frame as well as an "S" stamped on top of frame and hammer channel. Slide has early Type I rounded rear sight and proper front. Left side of slide is stamped with the two line patent "FEBRUARY 14 1911" with rear pony. Right side is stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 45". Features flat mainspring housing with loop, long smooth trigger, checkered wide spur hammer, checkered slide stop and safety, beautiful near mint diamond checkered walnut grips, blued barrel with polished chamber stamped "P", and tempered two tone five view holes pinned base magazine with lanyard. Most of the blue is gone from front grip strap with some spotting on trigger guard and mainspring housing and high edge wear, otherwise the majority of original factory blue is intact. Slide has a bit of age spotting above slide stamp with high edge wear, still retains 90% or better original factory blue. Fine bore and action. An extremely fine, all original, early Commercial 1911.
