Built by Colt in the mid-1870's, they were manufactured using leftover Model 1849 Percussion old model pocket revolvers and were transformed using the new solid "S" shape barrel. The original 1849 cylinders were converted for rimfire. Still features the brass trigger guard and backstrap and one piece walnut grips. This example represents a newly made revolver not a technical conversion, as matching serial numbers on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and cylinder. Cylinder has the original stagecoach scene. Revolver is manufactured without loading gate. It is a five shot single action. All metal has been factory nickel plated and still retains 95% of that finish. Grips are excellent to near mint. Indexes and locks up correctly. Strong, near mint bore. When the right recoil shield was milled for the loading of cartridges the metal was very thin and this recoil shield has snapped in half and is missing the upper half. Does not interfere with loading or function.
